Arktos is described as an angel dog by many people. Although he lived only four and a half months, he touched so many people’s lives. I met Arktos (means bear in Greek) when he became very ill and the veterinarian couldn’t diagnose the illness.
With animal communications, I talked with Arktos in Colorado and asked him about his condition. I also eased his discomfort with Healing Touch for Animals®.
After the session, he was able to eat without vomiting. No one was able to save him from an undiagnosed fungal infection and he was released from his pain with euthanasia. Arktos crossed Rainbow Bridge.
Three months later Joellen, his loving human, still misses her angel dog. After this following beautiful experience, she asked me to give her some insight. The following is her email to me.
“Thanks for being willing to listen. Arktos had a profound effect on me in the short time he was here, and I’m still trying to decipher what it all means. Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated.
I was out at my dad’s farm, walking his dog Lady as usual. Lady, Arktos and I did this walk every night and sometimes every morning. There’s a big irrigation ditch lined with trees and from the distance I saw a large bird fly into the trees and land.
As I got closer I kept looking but couldn’t see him until I realized he was right in front of me! It was a Great Horned Owl not more than 12 feet from me almost at eye level. I’ve seen a pair of owls on the property for some time, but I’ve NEVER been able to get closer than 50 feet before they fly away. And I’ve never seen them in these tiny little plum trees, the branches are so small.
He had his back to me and his head turned completely around watching me and I instinctively said “Arktos!” He flipped around on the scrawny little branch that barely held him and looked directly at me. I asked him, “Are you Arktos?” and he called back to me three times, leaning forward on the branch each time.
It was so amazing to be so close to him and have him talk to me! I told him how handsome he was and he called again three times. I was certain he was Arktos. I could feel him! I told him that I loved him and that I missed him so much and that I was so sorry I let him down. Again he called back three more times and kept looking at me. I couldn’t leave him. I just stood there stunned yet admiring him at the same time.
Ten minutes must have passed when Lady, wondering what I was doing, ran back to me and saw him too. He looked at her for a few minutes and then flew from the branch.
She chased him across the field until I called her back. Then I wondered if she knew he was Arktos too. It was so incredible! I’ve since seen the owls and have tried again getting close and it’s just not possible. They always fly away. I really believe he was Arktos and as you mentioned he must have been letting me know he’s still around. And it was very comforting to see him and have him speak to me.”
Previously I had recommended “Good Grief: Finding Peace After Pet Loss” by Sid Korpi. Joellen wrote this in an email. “I really have no doubts it was Arktos, but really wanted to hear what you thought. I read the book you recommended on grief and recalled stories in there of people with similar experiences. Thanks for recommendation, by the way!”
I also sent Joellen information from “Animal Spirit Guides” by Steven D Farmer PhD. Farmer explains why an animal appears, when you need to call the animal spirit, if the animal is your spirit guide. Joellen commented, “Thanks also for the info and meanings for Owl, its enlightening! And I think very fitting for some of what I’m struggling with presently.”
Joellen is finding owl feathers as she walks. More signs from Arktos.
The death of a pet and best friend is always difficult. Be open to the signs they leave you. They are still around us even if you can’t touch them. They are touching your heart.
