Honoring a Dog’s Life and Death – A Testimonial

Nelson Family Note

I received this beautiful card from the Nelson Family of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota after Abby, their American Cocker Spaniel, crossed Rainbow Bridge.

Before I share the card, I want to share Abby’s story. The Nelson’s adopted Abby when she was 13-years old in February 2011. Abby’s records noted she had some tongue issues. In November 2012, Becky discovered a tumor on Abby’s neck. In March 2013 Abby was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue and lymph nodes. Over the past year her tongue was getting shorter. Her vet was surprised Abby was still living life to the fullest. This special family helped Abby live the best possible years of her life (according to Abby’s words.)

Abby, A Wonderful Companion

On July 29, 2013, Abby Nelson (almost 15 ½ years old) crossed Rainbow Bridge surrounded with her Forever Family and assisted by Dr. Amy of MN Pets. I was honored to support Abby in her crossing of Rainbow Bridge as I had in the past years of her life with animal communications and Healing Touch for Animals®.

Here is the beautiful card:

Dear Elaine ~

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you did for us during Abby’s Journey with Cancer. You were always there for us and Abby through every part of the way and we are forever grateful!

Abby’s angel day could not have been more beautiful! We cherish the time we spent out in the garden and the Special Celebration of life you lead was very beautiful! Thank you for being with us and Abby and for staying at our home as she made her peaceful transition. It meant so much to us to have you with us. Your beautiful words, your love and support and your peacefulness were so appreciated and felt!

We are blessed to know you and to have worked with you again! You are a dear friend!

With love,

The Nelson Family
Becky, Scott, Sarah, Maddie, Michael, Sammy the dog, and Max the cat

  1. I listened to the show on WCCO and loved it. It is so helpful to hear suggestions and ideas for our beloved Bergen, our dog. We will be leaving for Florida for the winter and I will hopefully be able to explain to Bergen what is going on. Thanks for the great show.
