Energy Medicine Helps Rabbits with Fear and Limited Mobility

Recently I met two wonderful rabbits, Emily and Cherry, who had very different issues. Cherry has a spinal birth defect and Emily was very fearful. Barb Kelley, the go to person for rabbits who aren’t easily adopted, shared lots of information on pet rabbit behavior, and Emily and Cherry. Here’s the story about how Energy Medicine Helps Rabbits with Fear and Limited Mobility.

Cherry, Rabbit with Birth Defect

First I met Cherry, a Champagne D’Argent rabbit. Due to her birth defect, Cherry had weakness in her hind legs and recently stopped using her litter box. I sat with Cherry on the floor and started the Healing Touch for Animals®, a form of energy medicine similar to Reiki, session. I set the intention that Cherry would have better bladder function, more mobility, and keep her rear legs underneath her. After hopping away from me a few times, Cherry settled in and sat quietly as I work with her chakras and energy field. When I finished Cherry surprised us as she hopped a way with big motion. Previously her movement was low and limited.

Emily, A Frightened Rabbit

Then I worked with Emily, a fearful draft mix black and white rabbit. Emily was in a foster care for six months and they weren’t sure when she could be adopted because of her fear. They hadn’t seen such a fearful bunny before. I set the intention that Emily could trust people and she would send out energy to attract her best new forever home. As I touched her, she hunkered down and felt like a rock. Slowly I felt her relaxing as I explained her new job of trusting people and finding her forever home. When I ended the session, Emily stretched out and was more relaxed.

I was excited with the results I saw. I knew Barb was taking Emily to an adoption event with the plan of letting her play with the other bunnies. Barb thought it would be months before Emily would find her forever home.

The next day I receive this email from Barb: “. . . It was nice to meet you yesterday and you can tally two HUGE successes to your list.  I took little Emily with me to the adoption event just for the exposure and she turned on her charm to a wonderful young couple and their little black and white bun Elsa.  Emily went home to her forever home only 3 hours after your visit…. Cherry is much more up on her back legs and even able to stretch high (a bit like down dog in yoga)  She used her litter box several times today for the first time in about 6 weeks.”

Barb sent another email about Emily on the day of her adoption. “Emily was so cute.  Her new mom was holding her up on her shoulder while they completed the adoption paperwork.  Emily started grinding her teeth (sounds like purring) which is a sign of contentment.”

Eleven days later Barb sent me an update about Cherry: “Cherry is still moving so much better.  She pulls herself up on the side of her pen reaching for greens which she hasn’t been able to do for a long time.  Her gait is much more stable.  She uses her litter box a couple times a day.  I would love it if it was all the time but some is better than none.”

I am so grateful I helped Cherry and Emily live better lives.
