Calming Growling Dog

Shadow

In “Dog Tells About Pain & Fear of People in Animal Communication,” Shadow told me about her pain and desire to find the man who was “mean” to her. Shadow also admitted she would growl at Theresa because she felt she needed to protect Leon, Theresa’s husband.

Her growling at Theresa was causing problems. Shadow spends a lot of time with Leon and rarely growled at Leon. Leon was frustrated that Shadow was hurting Theresa’s feelings.

Someone gave Theresa the advice to be “dominate” over Shadow when she growled. So Theresa stared at her. This is an aggressive action in dog language.

I suggested Theresa instead use the calming signals of yawning, licking her lips, and averting her eyes. I also recommended Theresa exhale to relax herself and Shadow, and gently stroke Shadow on a walk to calm her. She could use the Tellington TTouch® Training philosophy of “meet the dog where she is” and not to force her. Animals respond well to mutual respect and cooperation.

Two weeks after our animal communication, I had a distance Healing Touch for Animals® session with Shadow.

The intention of the session was to reduce Shadow’s pain in her leg and to give her a new job. Her new job was to become a loving companion to both Leon and Theresa and let Theresa walk and feed her. I ended with the word “Remember” to bring her back to the energetic feeling at the end of the session.

The next day Theresa emailed me, “So far, Shadow has been very good. Last evening, I had to use the Remember word when she was getting uncontrollable with another dog on our walk. I just stroked her back and said Remember. I immediately felt her relax, if only for a second. But then we were able to continue on our walk. And this morning, we went on a normal 20 minute walk!”

Almost two weeks later Theresa emailed “Shadow does not growl at me as much, and she even let me sit by her on Saturday evening and pet her. In fact she let me pet her a lot, as if she didn’t want me to stop.”

Theresa continued that she was having problems walking Shadow. Shadow would take a short walk and head home. One time instead of going back inside, Theresa sat on the front step and Shadow sat next to her. Theresa explained that Leon could not always take Shadow for walks and Theresa needed to walk her. Theresa wrote, “I then gave her the treat I had, waited a minute or so, and asked her if she was ready to try again. We got up and she let me walk her this time. This morning she let me walk her again.”  Theresa used the philosophy I explained and had wonderful results.
