Cuddles, 17 year old Umbrella Cockatoo, has a wasting type of disease (Proventricular Dilatation Disease – PDD). Sid Korpi, author of Good Grief: Finding Peace After Pet Loss recommended me to her friend, Cindy Benzaquen. The previous weekend, Cuddles was close to death due to severe dehydration and survived. Cindy is in continual contact with Cuddles’ veterinarian. Cindy’s main concern is Cuddles has a comfortable, good quality of life.
The day I met them, Cindy could hear Cuddles’ chest congestion. After our introductions, Cuddles was very cooperative as I started a Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) session. As I worked, Cuddles became calmer and relaxed. At the end of the session, he sounded less congested and was very relaxed. Cindy and I agreed I would do distant sessions with him as needed. This started my journey with Cuddles.
A few days later, Cindy called and said Cuddles was having a seizure. I was on my way home and within 10 minutes of her call, I started a distance session on Cuddles. After a very long session, I called Cindy. She was thrilled. Normally Cuddles doesn’t regain his balance for many hours or most of the day, is disoriented, doesn’t want any food, and doesn’t acknowledge her. HTA changed all that! By the time I called her, Cuddles was standing on one foot and balancing, moving around his cage, eating, and trying to talk with her!
