7 Tips to Help Pets During COVID Limbo

Every person and pet are affected by the COVID Limbo. A few months ago, the dog and cat had a quiet house all day. Suddenly, everyone is home! Learn the 7 tips to help pets during COVID Limbo.

Remember how you felt at first? How about your dog or cat?

Everyone handles stress differently. The same is true with our pets.

For the past several weeks, everyone’s schedule has changed. Many pets don’t understand what is happening.

Recently pets are telling me they’re confused or acting out. They ask, “What is going on? Why are they all home?”

Pets thrive with routines. They know when you wake up and when you leave the house. They enjoy their walks and play times.

Just like us, pets feel the stress.

Before the COVID Limbo, dogs and cats enjoyed their quiet time and being alone. Now they are getting attention all the time! For some, all the togetherness is too much!

No one knows the future of the COVID Limbo – Stay At Home or go back to the office. Since we don’t know the future, how can we help our pets?

What can you do to help them now and in the future? Here’s 7 tips to help pets during COVID Limbo and beyond:

  • Let your dog chose his quiet spot and honor it. When he’s resting in his spot, everyone must leave him alone. Cats need quiet time too.
  • Teach the children and adults to respect when the pet is resting.
  • Take breaks and play. A 5-minute game of “Find the Toy or Treat” or chase helps everyone smile. Sing while you play too.
  • When you leave, tell your pet you’re leaving and when you’ll be back. Give a special treat or a toy.
  • When home all day, give your pet room to enjoy the house too. Be sure there is quiet time for all.
  • Create and follow routines of when your pet eats and plays. Try to take one walk at the same time daily.
  • When you sit with your cat or dog, put your phone and devices aside. Give your pet your full attention even for a few minutes. They love it!

Animals are always excited to explain how they are feeling and what they want. Through an animal communication many issues are quickly resolved by listening to pets.

Wondering how your pet is doing?
