Ann Platt of Pets Are Inn contacted me about a client’s dog, Lola. The dog’s anxiety had become a problem. Ann picked up Lola at her home, and Lola was in her crate. Usually Ann introduces herself to the dog and spends time getting to know them, before she puts the dog in a crate and transports the dog to her host’s home for their stay. Unfortunately with Lola in her crate, Ann was unable to spend any time with her. Ann left Lola with her host family for the weekend. Here’s how this dog’s anxiety was quickly calmed with TTouch for Animals.
Ann received a call from the host that Lola, a very small terrier, was growling and wouldn’t let anyone near her. When Ann was in the room, Lola was worst! They couldn’t put the leash on Lola to take her outside! The dog’s anxiety had become a problem.
Ann called me about Lola. Using animal communication, I talked to Lola and she said, she “was kidnapped. I don’t know why I am here!” I explained her parents went away for the weekend and these nice people were watching her for her parents.
Then I had Ann turn on her speaker phone. Then calmly and quietly I continued the conversation. “Everyone, please exhale [to relax]. Do not look at Lola. Exhale again. Now lick your lips. Look at her and look away. Now yawn, a very big yawn.” I was telling everyone in the room to give Lola dog body language. Then the host could approach her. “Back up to her or go to her from the side.” The host touched Lola. “Great. Stroke her slowly with the back of your hand.” Lola was relaxing. Then the host put the leash on Lola and walked her outside.
This entire session took less than 5 minutes! The rest of the evening Lola was loving and very attentive. The next morning Ann called the host to see how things were going. They were thrilled and declared “Lola is the tale of two dogs!” The rest of her visit was easy going and relaxed.
When Ann took Lola back home, the client said they had stopped using the leash! They didn’t realize it was a problem.
Thanks Lola for teaching so many lessons on how dog body language and TTouch® can calm a dog’s anxiety.
