{"id":4874,"date":"2019-06-14T15:18:06","date_gmt":"2019-06-14T15:18:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animalbridges.com\/?p=4874"},"modified":"2021-04-07T00:32:43","modified_gmt":"2021-04-07T00:32:43","slug":"change-affects-dogs-cats-and-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animalbridges.com\/change-affects-dogs-cats-and-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Change Affects Everyone | Dogs, Cats and People"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Do you realize how much change affects everyone &#8212; dogs, cats, and people? <\/strong>I\u2019m being re-educated in the field of change.<\/h2>\n<h2>You\u2019ve heard the phrase, <strong>\u201cThe only thing that is constant is change.<\/strong>\u201d For the past few months and today, I\u2019m living in a whirlwind of change.<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">John and I\u00a0 realized how much we enjoyed escaping winter by visiting friends in Arizona. We were thinking of <strong>moving to a warmer climate<\/strong> and decided now\u2019s the time to move to <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #800080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.visit-prescott.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prescott, Arizona<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">We came home and started clearing out the house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>The first huge change<\/strong> was getting the house ready for sale. After so many years in Minneapolis, we had lots to throw out. We filled trashcans \u2013 ours and our neighbors. We found a wonderful person who specializes in estate sales. She lightened our load for us as we staged the house for sale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">We learned<strong> staging is removing lots of stuff from the house<\/strong> including art, personal items, and even kitchen towels from counters. It helps the potential buyers to picture the house with their stuff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Even<strong> Sophie the dog, Hobbes BFF, really noticed the changes.<\/strong> First, she stopped going to the bedroom to nap. We removed the rugs, and the wooden floors were too slippery for her to jump on the bed. Yes, change affects everyone including dogs!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Suddenly, her spot of the \u201cExecutive Suite,\u201d aka porch changed. As we removed the dog benches, added a rug, and put chairs in the \u201cdog viewing corner.\u201d <strong>Sophie went on the porch, stopped, and then laid down staring at her spot!<\/strong> I quickly moved a chair and put a low table with her cushion on it. All was well again!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>We moved the knife holder<\/strong> from one end of the counter to the other. I can\u2019t tell you how <strong>often I go to the old spot first!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Then I put the bathroom trash can under the sink. Yes, daily I turn around to throw the dental floss in the moved trash can!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">I was <strong>in the middle of this chaos of small changes<\/strong>, and a friend reminded me how much the house changed after decades of living there. If felt like we were living in someone else\u2019s house. Even Sophie noticed the changes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Change can be subtle and significant.<\/strong> All these small changes add up &#8212; kids are out of school, schedule changes, moving, new jobs, vacations, and more affect you and your pets\u2019 lives. Just move the cat\u2019s litter box or change the litter. The cat will let you know!
