Summer is in full swing. We love being outside and so do our pets. Unfortunately the number of lost pets seems to be increasing daily. Six easy tips to help you bring your lost dog cat home faster.

In the past week, I heard of 3 lost cats and 2 dogs in the neighborhood. I also heard of a lost dog that didn’t have it’s micro chip information updated. He went home with the person who found him!

During summer the doors are open more. It only takes a push with a nose to open some screen doors. Or someone forgets and leaves the gate open. And sometimes the cat or dog gets curious and gets lost.

As pet parents we must do all we can to help them get home!

When I see a pet without a collar and tags, I get sick to my stomach. My first thought is “How will I get it home?”

I remember my shock and embarrassment when my previous dog, Boomer, was at the vet’s for a physical. As the vet looked into his eyes, Boomer made a guttural growl from his belly. He sounded like something from the “Exorcist” movie! Yes, the exam ended and Boomer needed to come back to the vet for some blood work.

A few days later I tried a new technique that helped him with his fears and the results were amazing. Boomer’s next vet visit went so well, the vet wanted to know what I had done.

Mischa, a 4 ½ year old cat, had experienced many changes in the past 6 months.

  • She traveled by car from New York City to Minnesota to her new home with her human Mom.
  • Left a cat sibling behind.
  • Met a new cat and bonded with him, Hendrix.
  • Suddenly Hendrix died.
  • The social cat was suddenly the lone cat and very unhappy.

 

Mischa  was crying most of the time. If she was alone in a room, and her humans were in another room with the TV on, she cried. She cried during the night. Her human Mom was not sleeping and desperately needed the sleep.
