what-is-animal-commWhat is animal communication? Elaine Garley of Animal Bridges explained animal communication to the National Association of Professional Women’s Minneapolis Chapter on August 10, 2016.

Twenty NAPW members listened as Elaine explained what is animal communication.  She also explained how people “hear” the animals. Many animal communicators receive telepathic messages in the form of pictures. Most pet parents just “know” when their best friend is hungry, needs to go outside, or is sick. As children, many of us spoke with animals and “imaginary friends.”

Hobbes with Dr. Becca

Hobbes, the wheaten terrier, gets so excited when he goes to the chiropractor. He runs up to the door and can’t wait to see his favorite animal chiropractor, Dr. Becca Amstutz of Perpetual Motion Animal Chiropractic.

Why did Hobbes go to the chiropractor? He wasn’t hurt or injured. He isn’t sick. So why did he go? Hobbes had an appointment, because I know how wonderful it feels to have my body in the best working condition after a chiropractic adjustment.

tips-easing-sr-dogs-life

tips-easing-sr-dogs-lifeThis article was featured in The K9 Reporter as “Making Life Easier for Your Senior Dog.”   Here additional resources are included that were omitted due to lack of space.

Are you noticing changes in your senior dog? Is the muzzle getting whiter? Does she walk slower now? Does he have a hard time getting into the car or walking the stairs? I remember when Boomer, my wheaten terrier, started slowly aging. He lived a great life of over 14 years and taught me a lot of living with an older dog.

Here are some of the tips I learned from Boomer and my client’s older dogs.

Fearful Dog Learns to Trust

Kaiser

Read how a Fearful Dog Learns to Trust… Kaiser, an 11 year old dog, is very fearful of veterinarians. He loves his people and feels safe with them. Michelle, Kaiser’s guardian and pet parent, saved him at 7 weeks old from being chained up. Michelle did all the right things at the time. She took Kaiser to training and realized the training method was not positive training. So she set out on her own to help Kaiser.

As time passed, Kaiser became very fearful of veterinarians. He snapped out a fear at one vet who then hung him by his leash. She changed vets. Ever since that event, Kaiser reacts terribly to vets. His recent vet visit resulted in him being muzzled, handled with heavy gloves, Michelle being told to leave the examining room, and Kaiser eliminating out of fear! This is when Michelle contacted me at Animal Bridges.

Helping Rescue Puppies With the Parvo Virus

helping-rescue-puppies

helping-rescue-puppiesLittle did I know six weeks ago, I would learn firsthand about rescued puppies and their struggles. Now I personally experienced the results of a puppy mill breeding and conditions.

My friend Denise asked me to let her dogs out while she helped in a huge dog rescue from northern North Dakota. Over 80 dogs were voluntarily surrendered from a very poor situation to many rescue groups. Denise thought she was getting was a mother dog and eight four-week old puppies. She had raised several litters in the past, and knew she could handle the mother dog and puppies. Her biggest concern was how her female yellow Lab would accept the mother dog.

Dog Overcomes Fears and Gains Confidence

The following testimonial was posted on Animal Bridges’ Facebook Fan Page:

Isabel

Isabel came to me from a Cocker Spaniel rescue, where she had spent two years. Evidently she was just too shy to have made a good impression on potential adopters, because she was terrified and miserable, and spent her time hiding, hoping not to be seen. After a year, she gained confidence in me, but was still fearful of almost everything else – especially people.
